  • Older cameras like the EOS 400D are no longer supported by Canons SDK. They may work but with reduced functionality.
  • Some Canon mirror-less cameras support WIA remote picture capture, for example the PowerShoot S3 IS, though it may be unreliable (i.e. sporadic loss of connection). You also have the option of installing CHDK firmware, which ads WIA support to certain Canon cameras.

GoPro
  • GoPro has no official APIs for developers to use, and reliable time-lapse capture is not currently possible with these cameras.
  • As soon as GoPro opens up the camera to developers we'll be sure to add support.
  • The supported Sony HDR-AS100 is a great alternative and offers better image quality.

Other
We're always on the lookout for new Cameras that support remote capture and have APIs that allow for reliable long term capture. Let us know if you come across any cameras you'd like VideoVelocity to support.

Notes
  • Some point-shoot cameras can be unreliable for long term time-lapse recording, DSLR or IP Cameras are recommended!
  • Use the Free edition to test your camera. Windows 7 or higher is recommended due to better camera drivers. Please see our DSLR tips page for recommendations.
  • We'd love to receive your input as to what works for you or not.
